About Us Since 1913, Pekin Hospital has been dedicated to improving the health of its community. Just 20 minutes south of Peoria in central Illinois, we are a 125-bed medical center that provides advanced care and state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities offered by few other hospitals our size. Yet we remain small enough to give personal attention to our patients and their families during major and minor illnesses and injuries.
Pekin Hospital is easy to find at Court and 13th Streets in Pekin, serving Tazewell, Mason and Peoria counties. Approximately 240 physicians in more than 26 medical specialties work closely with our highly credentialed nursing staff and healthcare professionals to care for our patients. Pekin Hospital also provides inpatient physicians who are board certified in their respective specialties and clinically trained to care specifically for hospital patients.

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit, national body that oversees the safety and quality of health care and other services provided in accredited organizations. Illinois Report Card Act: Under the Illinois Report Card Act, the public has the right to access nurse staffing information. Requests for the following information may be communicated to Pekin Hospital by written, telephone or on-site inquires.
Current nursing staff schedules are available upon request at each patient care unit. Each schedule shall list the daily assigned nursing personnel and average daily census for the unit. The schedules shall be provided to the public upon request by providing a hard copy of the schedule but shall not contain information identifying a patient, employee, licensed nurse or other license professional. The requested item will be made available within two hours after the request.
Actual nurse staffing assignment rosters will be available upon request at the patient care unit for the effective date of that roster. The rosters shall be provided to the public upon request by providing a hard copy of the schedule but shall not contain information identifying a patient, employee, licensed nurse or other license professional. The requested item will be made available within two hours after the request during 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. during the week and within four hours on weekends and evening hours.
Other nurse staffing records, including the methods to determine and adjust staffing levels, historical records, and records in off-site storage, may be requested Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Pekin Hospital will comply with a written request for these records within seven business days after receipt.
Language Assistance Services: As part of the Illinois Language Assistance Services Act, Pekin Hospital will provide access to interpreters either on the premises or accessible by telephone, 24 hours a day. If such services are needed, please contact Nursing Services at (309) 353-0412 (Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) or the House Supervisor on off-hours through the hospital operator at (309) 347-1151.
Pekin Hospital also has Assistive Listening Devices available for hearing impaired patients and their families while at Pekin Hospital. A telecommunication device may be obtained for use while a patient at Pekin Hospital by contacting Nursing Services at (309) 353-0412 (Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.) or the House Supervisor on off-hours through the hospital operator at (309) 347-1151.
Pekin Hospital Complaint and Grievance Process: Patients, their families, and the parents or legal guardians of the hospital patients have the legal right to express his/her concerns regarding patient care and safety. This may be done without fear of reprisal by the hospital. To report your concern, please contact Patient Care Advocate at (309) 353-0826 or Pekin Hospital, Attn: Patient Advocate/Patient Relations, 600 South 13th Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
Any complaint meeting the definition of a "grievance" as outlined by Medicare will be addressed through the hospital's formal grievance process. The grievance will be forwarded to the Quality Assistance office for investigation, resolution, and follow-up. A written response will be sent to the patient/family. The patient/family has the right to appeal any decision or actions taken.
