Scholarships Each year the Pekin Hospital Foundation awards the Bud Velde Scholarship, a $1000 award, to an area student pursuing a career in the healthcare professions field. Nursing students are not eligible for this scholarship.
The Foundation also solicits funds applications for the annual Frances Tollendorf Nursing Scholarship, a $1000 award, to an area nursing student pursuing a career in a qualified, professional nursing program.
Applications for these scholarships are available in January and must be postmarked by June 4 for consideration.
The scholarship committee reviews applications and selects the award recipient(s) based upon course of study; financial need; scholarship achievements, including honors and grades; experience/extra-curricular involvement, volunteer and work-related; letters of recommendation; and general qualifications and goals.

Other Opportunities Available
The Pekin Hospital Medical Staff awards financial assistance for the Medical Staff Scholarship Fund of $3000 to a student enrolled as a fourth year Pre Med student accepted to Medical School or a current Medical Student based upon financial need, scholarship achievements, experience/extra-curricular involvement, letters of recommendation and general qualifications and goals.
The Pekin Hospital Auxiliary awards financial assistance to students enrolled in a healthcare professions program. Students living in the Pekin area are eligible to apply. Priority, of course, is extended to those who intend to return to the Pekin area to practice their professional skills.
Applications for these scholarships are available in January and must be delivered to Volunteer Services Department (located on 4 South) no later than 4:30 p.m. June 4, 2010 or postmarked by June 4th for consideration.
