I was very pleased with my care. The charge nurse was very quick with the discharge papers. I appreciated that she knew I wanted to go home.


I am an RN and have worked in other facilities including those in Peoria, but I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality and professionalism of the Physical Therapy staff. They had handouts with directions written for me – not all hospitals do this. A very good experience.

The nurses and CNAs are a dedicated team of workers who deliver outstanding care. Pekin Hospital is blessed to have such a good group of employees.


It was not my intention to deliver at Pekin Hospital - I was pre-registered at a Peoria hospital... but I was having strong contractions, an ice storm was starting, and my doctor was gone on vacation. I drove myself to Pekin Hospital since I live less than a mile away. I was treated so well that I decided to deliver there.


They were expecting me. I had gone to the doctor’s office and they suggested I go to the ER. They called to let them know I was coming and everything was already taken care of when I got there. I appreciate having a facility available when I need it.


When I had my pulmonary function test, there was NO wait for registration!


I have always had a good experience at Pekin Hospital. Why go to Peoria? I am ready to have the second eye surgery because of the good experience with the first one.


I used to work at Pekin Hospital and I am glad to see it is still #1!

The Five Pillars™

The five pillars provide the foundation for setting organizational goals and provide the framework for the evaluation process. Employee leadership teams are formed, goals are set by the five pillars in all departments and the successes are then measured through Press Ganey and Associates against hospitals nationwide. Service and quality are the driving forces to inspiring results through a combination of service excellence, leadership development and accountability. Through the five pillars, not only is employee and patient satisfaction at the top of the list, but physicians are also important and play a huge part in the success of the hospital.

Noticeable changes have been documented. Inpatient admissions are up, procedures are up, and patient satisfaction scores are up. Our Home Health Department scored the highest raw score in the nation because of their commitment to excellence. Services are growing: Seven new physicians have moved to the community and are practicing here. Construction is complete on a new surgical floor because of a growing census, and two phases out of four are complete for a new OB/GYN floor, The Baby Place. Our emergency room satisfaction scores have been above 93% since 2001 and have been 99% since last May. Proudly, we have been sharing our journey toward excellence with 13 hospitals throughout the United States who have heard the news.

Because of the commitment our employees and physicians have made and the feelings of passion they have for healthcare, we can provide more personal care for our patients that results in better outcomes… because this is a culture that can endure.
