Overall, I just want to say thank you for the excellent care! Pekin Hospital was there for me when I needed it the most.

I have had surgery at Pekin and Peoria, and I prefer Pekin any time. All the nurses on 5 North are great!

My wife and I really like Pekin Hospital.

I came to The Baby Place for the tub and "Baby Friendly" designation. It is very important to me and why I chose Pekin Hospital.

I have been attending the Wellness Center since October to try to get past needing oxygen. I’m improving and appreciate the caring core of helpers.

We were very pleased with the overall care our son received at Pekin Hospital. He had to spend the night for the first time ever in the hospital, and the staff was just wonderful to him. This proves that bigger isn’t always better. I would choose Pekin over any other hospital any day!

The doctor was very upbeat and made the visit to the hospital as much of a good visit as possible. He was very good at making my daughter laugh.

The follow-up phone call to my home was superbly appreciated.

I couldn't have been cared for any better. You are just the right size, just the right distance from my home.

My experience at the doctor’s office was very good – I can’t find one thing to complain about!

I liked being able to order off a menu. The variety of food was good and it was tasteful.

Who is at risk?

Above all, women are at a higher risk for osteoporosis than men. In fact, eighty percent of individuals affected by the disease are women. But certain women are at a higher risk than others, including women who are thin, at an advanced age, have a family history of osteoporosis or are postmenopausal.

Why do I need a Bone Mineral Density (BMD) test?

A BMD test can detect osteoporosis before a bone fracture occurs and predict your chances of fracturing in the future. Although there is no cure for osteoporosis, treatment can help slow or stop bone loss, increase bone density and reduce fracture risk.

When do I need a BMD test?

Your physician can analyze your risk factors and help you determine whether or not you should have a BMD test. However, all women over 65 should receive regular BMD tests.

What should I do to prepare for my BMD test?

Nothing! The total body DEXA Scanner at the Women's Diagnostic Center is noninvasive... you don't even need to change into an examination robe, as long as you aren't wearing anything with metal (zippers, buttons, etc.).
