As you know, a colonoscopy does not contribute to a “fun” day, but your staff made it a pleasant experience. I would recommend your facility to anyone - thank you.

I came in to ER1 screaming in pain, and they took me straight to the exam area. They were really fast!

My mother became very ill in late July 2012 and has been in and out of Pekin Hospital ever since. I wish I could explain the lengths that the staff there has gone to in order to treat my mother with kindness and dignity. I wish I could explain how comforting and generous the staff has been to the rest of my family during this frightening time. There are just too many examples to cite, but they all add up to meticulous, loving care from the doctors, nurses, aides, housekeepers, cafeteria workers, lab techs, and so on. Thank you all so, so much for what you have done for us.

Everyone - even the CNAs on the floor and transporters - was outstanding. I have just never seen that type of personal care like my Dad received the few days he was at Pekin Hospital.

Service was good with no real delay in seeing the doctor and getting my problem treated.

Home Health always called before they came to my house, and they told me how long it would be before they got there. Everything was very good, and I hated when my therapy was finished.

I always get great service every time – thank you!

Everything was great! I highly recommend your hospital to everyone. I will not have a procedure done at any other hospital because I love the personal feeling at PMH. You guys are #1.

Pekin Hospital offers very good skilled care with pleasant, personable personnel.

I have been in the hospital several times over the years for minor and major surgery and have never had a problem. I have always been very well taken care of – thank you.

Wonderful experience! We DREADED going because of previous doctor experiences at other places…. but your UrgentCare is great!

Cancer Treatment Center

Cancer Treatment CenterPekin Hospital Cancer Treatment Center

Through a joint venture with the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Affiliation, the Cancer Treatment Center on the Pekin Hospital campus provides comprehensive treatment in a personal and comfortable environment. Our patients save time and reduce the cost and stress of their care by staying close to home throughout the course of their treatments. They also maintain relationships with their existing physicians and clinical staff for an uninterrupted continuum of care. For more information about the Cancer Treatment Center at Pekin Hospital, call (309) 353-0512.

What is the history of the Cancer Treatment Center?

In March of 1998, Pekin Hospital and OSF Saint Francis Medical Center joined forces to open the Cancer Treatment Center on the Pekin Hospital campus - bringing comprehensive, state-of-the-art oncology services to Tazewell County for the first time.

What kind of services does the Center provide?

The Cancer Treatment Center provides comprehensive services, including:

  • Cancer screening
  • Chemotherapy
  • Inpatient oncology services
  • Patient education on nutrition, wellness and other issues
  • Prevention programs
  • Radiation therapy care, including a linear accelerator
  • Tumor registry

Who is the director of the Cancer Treatment Center?

The Cancer Treatment Center is under the direction of Dr. Nguyet A. Le-Lindqwister, Oncology/Hematology Associates of Central Illinois, P.C.

How do I schedule an appointment for treatment?

Contact your physician's office- they will schedule the appointment for you.

What should I expect in my first visit to the Cancer Treatment Center?

During your first visit to the Cancer Treatment Center, you will meet with an oncologist (a physician specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer) for an initial consultation. During this consultation, the oncologist might discuss what tests will be necessary, or go over test results with you if you've already had tests done. The oncologist might also explain your options and help you make decisions about which treatment plan is right for you. Each initial consultation will differ depending on the individual patient's case.

There is a possibility that you will have some tests done on the same day as your initial consultation. However, it is very rare for a patient to begin treatment the same day.

At the Cancer Treatment Center, we realize that this is a fearful, unpleasant time for you. You are encouraged to bring family members or loved ones to your appointments for emotional support. We hope you will all feel comfortable in the cozy, friendly environment that we have created.

What should I expect in my first chemotherapy session?

Your first chemotherapy session will take longer than most sessions. Prior to your treatment, you will meet with a nurse who will teach you about the specific type of chemotherapy you will be receiving. Your nurse will also go over an informational packet that will be yours to keep. This packet will answer many of your questions, tell you what signs to watch for, and provide phone numbers for you to call should you notice any of these signs.

What should I expect in my first radiation session?

Your first radiation session will take longer than most sessions. Prior to your treatment, you will meet with a nurse who will teach you about the specific type of radiation you will be receiving. Your nurse will also go over an informational packet that will be yours to keep. This packet will answer many of your questions, tell you what signs to watch for, and provide phone numbers for you to call should you notice any of these signs.

Where is the Center and where do I park?

The Center is directly across the street from Pekin Hospital's main entrance, with convenient parking next to the building.

All I need is to have my blood drawn - is there a way to get it done quickly?

Yes. Call (309) 353-0765 to schedule an appointment and pre-register over the phone. Having pre-registered, you will be able to arrive at the exact time of your appointment (as opposed to arriving early). You may also park on the street in the 10-minute parking spaces because you won't be inside long. These appointments are specifically scheduled to prevent backlogs.
