What’s So Important About Breastfeeding?
Women's Diagnostic Center

Pekin Hospital offers very good skilled care with pleasant, personable personnel.

My husband was a patient at your hospital for only a day and a half, but I know everyone treated him very well. Although his personality is not very good at this time in his life, everyone took it in stride. I’m very grateful!

I am a Type I diabetic, and they took very good care of me in the ER. The doctor and nurses were very thoughtful.

The nurses took extra care with our two-year-old son - even taking extra steps not to wake him while he was sleeping.

Everyone was kind and considerate. They were very helpful with the directions about what I should do when I get home.

I was able to do a lot of things on my own, but the Home Health ladies were very nice and friendly.

My wife passed away a few days ago at our home. She had nothing but good things to say about her care. She was bedridden for nearly two years and always looked forward to the nurse visits. We appreciated everything they did. Thanks again.

Everyone - even the CNAs on the floor and transporters - was outstanding. I have just never seen that type of personal care like my Dad received the few days he was at Pekin Hospital.

I always get great service every time – thank you!

My mother became very ill in late July 2012 and has been in and out of Pekin Hospital ever since. I wish I could explain the lengths that the staff there has gone to in order to treat my mother with kindness and dignity. I wish I could explain how comforting and generous the staff has been to the rest of my family during this frightening time. There are just too many examples to cite, but they all add up to meticulous, loving care from the doctors, nurses, aides, housekeepers, cafeteria workers, lab techs, and so on. Thank you all so, so much for what you have done for us.

When I had an echocardiogram at Pekin Hospital, everyone was helpful - especially in scheduling.

What’s So Important About Breastfeeding?

What’s So Important About Breastfeeding?

At Pekin Hospital we support breastfeeding because research indicates that both moms and babies are healthier throughout their lives as a result of breastfeeding. Check out these facts!

Breastfeeding offers an unmatched beginning for your child. Human breast milk offers your child the most complete nutrition possible - including an optimal mix of nutrients and antibodies to help your baby thrive. Scientific studies indicate breastfed children have fewer and less serious illnesses.

What?s So Important About BreastfeedingBreastfeeding is good for moms too. Recent studies indicate women who breastfeed have a reduced risk of breast and ovarian cancer, diabetes, anemia and osteoporosis. You can feel good about being able to provide your baby with complete nourishment and create a special bond through breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding saves money. In addition to being free, breast milk helps to reduce healthcare costs and the time it takes to care for a sick child.

Breastfeeding is good for the community. Research indicates that breastfeeding families miss less work. Since breast milk is free and research indicates its health benefits, breastfeeding helps to lower healthcare costs and reduce the financial burden on families and third-party payers, as well as community and government programs.

Breastfeeding gives your child a developmental advantage. Research indicates that breastfed babies have higher IQ scores, as well as better brain and nervous system development.

Breastfeeding is good for the environment. Scientists agree that breast milk is the very best way to nourish babies. It may even protect them from some of the effects of pollution. In addition, breastfeeding does not contribute to pollution and waste problems because none of the tin, paper, plastic or energy necessary for preparing, packaging and transporting baby formulas are required. Also, research indicates that exclusive breastfeeding helps to regulate pregnancies naturally.
