Digital Mammography

It's All About Simplicity, the Future and YOU.
At the Women's Diagnostic Center, we want to make your mammogram as comfortable as possible. That's why we offer the most advanced digital mammography system from GE Healthcare, the Senographe® Essential.
With digital mammography, you'll experience:
- Accurate diagnoses
- Short exam times
- Fast results
- Fewer callbacks
- More comfort
- Superior care
That's the beauty behind the new standard in Digital Mammography at Pekin Hospital.
Early Detection is Key In Illinois alone, breast cancer is expected to affect more than 7,610 this year. Although mammograms are among the best early detection methods, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. indicates that 13 million U.S. women 40 years of age or older have never had one.
Advantages to a Digital System In addition to images that are clear and easy to read, the new digital system offers an excellent view of the breast, especially near the skin line and chest wall, as well as in women with diverse breast tissue types.
Other benefits to digital images:
- Ready to read within 10 seconds
- No longer a wait to develop film and ensure images are usable
- Take about half the time as film
What's more, if a second opinion is necessary, digital images can be sent electronically to a consulting physician almost instantaneously.
About the System The Senographe Essential at Pekin Hospital is equipped with the Seno Advantage 2.2 Review Workstation®. This workstation allows physicians to simply, quickly, and easily review patient's images, including information from multi-modality studies, at a single point of review. Plus, physicians can pull up a patient's previous mammography exams for historical comparison or to check against other types of images, such as those acquired by ultrasound or magnetic resonance, resulting in a more comprehensive view of a specific patient's medical history. The workstation also simplifies the sharing of information and images with referring physicians and surgeons.
